Assetspire's permission system goes far beyond simple role-based access. It uses a two-tier calculated permission model that combines platform-level access rights with granular, per-asset permissions that cascade intelligently through your infrastructure hierarchy.
The permission system was designed ground-up for colocation environments where multiple customers rent space in shared facilities. A typical deployment pattern:
1. Assign Racks to Customer: Grant a customer full management access to their specific racks (e.g., R001 and R005).
2. Automatic Device Access: The customer automatically gains full control over every device mounted in their assigned racks — including the ability to add, modify, and remove devices.
3. Automatic Navigation: The customer gets view-only navigation access upward to the room, floor, and datacenter — so they can find their racks through the hierarchy.
4. Complete Isolation: All other customers' racks, devices, and data are completely invisible — they don't appear in navigation, search results, reports, or analytics.
